Vellore

Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Monday reviewed the various government schemes being implemented in Vellore district during a meeting with Collector Sa Raman and officials at the circuit house. 

He also received petitions from the public and political parties. Earlier, Purohit inspected the new bus stand where he administered a pledge to the public to end open defecation in their respective areas.

However, around 300 DMK cadre, led by MLAs AP Nandakumar (Anaicuttu) and P Karthikeyan (Vellore), showed black flags when the governor was proceeding to the bus stand, condemning his interference in state government affairs. 

The Governor also inspected the solid waste management activities of Vellore corporation at Gandhi Nagar near Katpadi, besides visiting the Vellore government Pentland hospital where he interacted with the doctors. He left for Chennai by road later in the evening
