The conference would see the attendance of who’s who of the state administration’s top brass and all department secretaries and the entire top brass of the police force and would be chaired by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam.
Sources said the schedule of the conference had not been finalised yet and might happen any time before the Budget session of the Assembly. The conferences, at times, had helped officials to air their views directly to the CM, which otherwise, is improbable.
Since, the entire state administration top brass would be present during the meeting it would be easy to get resolutions. The last conference of Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) was chaired by the then chief minister J Jayalalithaa in December 2013.
Prior to that, the conferences were held in December 2012 and in November 2011. The annual event went of the state’s calendar after Jayalalithaa was relieved off her Office on being convicted in the Disproportionate Assets case.
Chief Minister urged to expedite Athikadavu-Avinashi project
A forum that has been campaigning for Athikadavu-Avinashi project met the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday seeking him to expedite the project. The members were assured that their request would be considered. The forum expressed their dissatisfaction over the project remaining a non-starter, despite the assurance made by Palaniswami at the MGR Centenary celebrations in Tirupur in July 2017. We spoke with the CM. He has assured us support. We expressed our desire for the project’s speedy implementation,” they claimed.
