During his visit, the local DMK unit staged a black flag demonstration against the Governor for holding such a meeting here with officials including the District Collector and a state Minister.
DMK staged a black flag demonstration against the Governor's visit, raising slogans asking him to 'go back.'
Local DMK leader and Krishnagiri MLA T Senkuttuvan and others staged the protest wearing black shirts.
Purohit, who had earlier held review meetings in Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, Dharmapuri and Cuddalore, visited Krishnagiri today and attended a slew of events.
Purohit "viewed the presentation on features of Krishnagiri district made by the Collector C Kathiravan," the Raj Bhavan said.
He also took up cleaning activities at Thimmapuram village under the Swachch Bharat initiative and administered a pledge under the initiative at Kaveripattinam in the district, it said.
He surveyed the construction of toilet under the Swachch Bharat scheme, it said, adding, the Governor also flagged off a vehicle under the 'Thooimaye Sevai' (Swacchata hi Seva) initiative.
Tamil Nadu Animal Husbandary Minister P Balakrishna Reddy was present during all the events.
Purohit had faced protests during his visits to some of the districts in recent months with DMK cadres showing black flags alleging that he was interfering with the state's autonomy.
This charge, however, has been rejected by the Raj Bhavan as well as the ruling AIADMK and BJP.
