The 4-day fair was jointly launched by Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar.
Sengottaiyan noted that the state following the footsteps of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa had generously allocated funds to Health department next only to School Education department. Claiming that Siddha medicine would play a prominent role in maintaining individual health in future, Sengottaiyan said that measures would be in place to make the manuscripts relating to Siddha medicine accessible to all students besides providing ‘Yoga’ training.
We are in the process of setting up a Siddha Medical College in Palani, Dindigul district and Ayush hospitals, which would also provide for naturopathy, yoga, and Siddha treatments with a 50 bed facility – one each in Theni and Tiruvannamalai, said Vijaya Baskar.
“The facilities are coming up at a cost of Rs 7.33 crore,” he added. Recalling that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami gave away appointment orders to 105 doctors in Indian and Homeopathic streams on January 2, the Minister observed that the state was giving away health kit comprising of 11 Siddha medicine supplements for pregnant women free of cost. He also listed various measures taken by the state to preserve Indian medicines.
