‘Happy Street’ is a concept which aims at increasing the happiness quotient of people by making them use the streets. During the initiative, vehicles would not be allowed on the road.

People will be free to walk, run, play, do yoga and dance on the streets. Since the implementation of the initiative from January 2017, Madurai Corporation has been receiving positive response from residents.

However, the event was not held regularly for various reasons and after a gap of four months, the event was held on Jeyam Theatre Main Road. The event commenced around 7.30 am in the morning. People started cycling and doing yoga on the road. They also performed Zumba dance and various rock songs were played to keep the crowd charged.
