Woman estate worker killed in gaur attack

A woman farm estate worker was gored to death by an Indian gaur in Kalhatti on Tuesday. According to the Forest Department, S Annalakshmi, 52, wife of Sigamani of Anna Nagar, was heading for work through a narrow pathway in a tea estate, when the gaur emerged from the bushes and attacked her.

Annalakshmi suffered serious injuries and fainted bleeding profusely. On hearing her screams, other estate workers rushed to the spot and chased the gaur into the forest. The woman was immediately rushed to the Ooty Government Hospital in an ambulance. 

After examining her, doctors declared her brought dead and the body was sent for autopsy. In another incident, a leopard, which had slipped into a temple well in Mukkimalai near Manjoor, was rescued by the Forest Department.
