In his special birthday message released to the cadre earlier in the day and talking to media persons at Anna Arivalayam later, Stalin said, “Striving to unseat the communal BJP regime at the Centre and its subservient AIADMK regime in the state is my birthday request to you (cadre). Propagating Dravidian ideology is my best birthday gift.”  He also offered to pay a visit to all the libraries set up and supported by his party cadre.

Starting his day, celebrated as “Youth uprising day” by the party, by cutting cake with his family at his residence as usual, Stalin as finished the chore of paying tributes to his party’s ideological and political mentors Periyar and Anna at their respective memorials, before reaching party headquarters where he went through another round of cake cutting and accepted cadre’s wishes.

All praise for Udhayanidhi

Unlike in the previous years, Anna Arivalayam was devoid of pulling and pushing, courtesy Udhayanidhi Stalin, who shined bright on his father’s birthday. From organizing ‘orderly’ cadre movement and feast at Kalaginar hall, to planning celebration at home, everything was learnt to have been arranged by Udhayanidhi and team who had impressed Stalin so much that a ‘satisfied’ DMK working president had bragged about his son’s organising skills by saying, “I did not expecthim (Udhay) to do it so well. Everything was (done by) Udhay,” a cryptic statement suggesting that his son was brain behind it. Unsurprisingly, the DMK ex-ministers were generous in complimenting Udhayanidhi’s organising skills. Noticeably, the actor stole the thunder not only in Chittaranajan Avenue and Arivalayam, but also in Gopalapuram. Udhayanidhi, who has been showing his political enthusiasm, also accompanied his parents who took the blessings of Karunanidhi-Dayalu Ammal couple.

Durga Stalin also cared to get a copy of her just released book “Avarum Naanum” autographed by her nonagenarian father-in-law. Stalin’s PR team also cared to release a video of Durga prostrating and Karunanidhi feebly marking his initial ‘Mu Ka” in his daughter-in-law’s book.

Leaders greet Stalin

Leaders of various parties, including from rival BJP, greeted Stalin on his birthday. Congress president Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee, former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Kamal Haasan and BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan posted their birthday greetings on twitter, while actors Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj, Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mukul Wasnik and Anand Sharma greeted him over phone.

Dravidar Kazhagam leader K Veeramani, VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan, MDMK leader Vaiko, CPI state secretary R Mutharasan, Puducherry CM V Narayanasamy and state Congress president Su Thiruavukkarasar were among the leaders who greeted Stalin in person.
