Arunraj’s entire family was shell-shocked after news of his death reached them in Perungudi near Madurai. According to his father, Malai Rajan, the family was alerted about his death around 5 am.

After hearing the news, they initially didn’t believe that he had shot himself. Arunraj, a BCom graduate, had joined the police force in 2013 and excelled in police games. He was not an introvert and was free moving with his friends and family members.

“Arun was not a coward. He could face any situation and could handle it well. The news of his suicide is not be acceptable and is highly suspicious,” said Malai Rajan.

Arunraj had spoken to his father on Saturday night and even then did not show any signs of distress. However, there was one issue that he talked about a lot and it was about his transfer.

He had submitted his transfer request to his higher officials and they had assured him of his transfer in three months. Under the circumstances, there is no need for him to commit suicide, it was alleged.

“There is suspicion in the death and so a judicial probe should be ordered,” demanded Malai Rajan. In the morning, he left for Chennai to bring back his son’s body to Perungudi in Madurai.
