Smooth start for CBSE exams
Held at 1,194 centres across the state, Class 10 students appeared for their elective papers while those in Class 12 took their English paper on Monday.

More than 2.6 lakh students across the state took the CBSE examinations on Monday.While Class 10 students took their elective papers, those in Class 12, took their English test. Though the examination started at 10.30 am, students reported at the centres at 9am as per the rules.
A senior CBSE official here said that the board has made appropriate arrangements with state authorities and local police to ensure trouble free examinations.
In its circular, the CBSE said that it would provide scribes to those who are unable to write the exam due to sudden illness. The students will not be charged for the service. Centre Superintendent of the exam centre will provide a scribe who must be a student of class lower than the candidate. In Chennai, Class 10 examinations were held at 684 schools and hose for Class 12 were conducted at 510 venues. “The board has made appropriate arrangements with the state authorities and the police to ensure that the students do not face any trouble during the examination,” a CBSE official said.
