School teacher held for taking obscene videos of girls

The accused Antonysamy had worked as a temporary teacher at an institution in Panakudi six years ago. After getting a government job, he had moved to Nagapattinam before opting for a transfer back to Panagudi. 

According to Police sources, Antonysamy had abused girl students and took their video by threatening to fail them in the exams. The incident came to light when he gave his mobile phone for repair, and the man at the shop sent the videos to his friends.

One of them, reportedly associated with a lesser known Tamil magazine, allegedly threatened Antonysamy and extorted money. However, when he refused to pay up, the video was forwarded to the police, said sources. Meanwhile, following complaint that Antonysamy was filming women taking bath, police booked a case under section 67 of IT Act and arrested him. That is when they received the abuse video. During questioning, he allegedly confessed to the crime. Though police tried to reach out to his victims to obtain a complaint, the girls, now married, refused. Sources said Panagudi police are getting legal opinion to book him under POCSO Act.
