2.17 crore to vote in polls to co-op societies

Interacting with mediapersons on Tuesday, cooperative election commissioner M Rajendran said 2.17 crore voters are expected to exercise their franchise in the upcoming election. 

According to the schedule, filing of nominations will be held on March 26 and scrutiny of nominations the next day. Nominations can be withdrawn till 3 pm on March 28 and the final list of candidates will be announced the same evening. 

As the model poll code is already in place, Rajendran said, no new schemes related to cooperative societies could be announced. Collector KS Kandasamy, superintendent of police R Ponni, district revenue officer P Rathinasamy and cooperative joint registrar Ms Renugambal were present at the press meet.
