Expressing shock at Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam’s reasoning in the Assembly that report was not an account audit and there was no precedence to table performance audit, Stalin said the Finance Minister should immediately make efforts to table the special performance audit report in the Assembly.
The DMK working president, in a statement issued late Thursday, said the reasoning of the Finance Minister was unacceptable and the report should be considered an account audit as the government had spent Central and state funds for relief operations.
It was for the Assembly and not a few officials to decide if it were an account or performance audit, Stalin remarked accusing the AIADMK of failing in its Constitutional duty. It is the duty of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department to send a copy of the report to the Secretary of the Governor, he claimed, asking the Governor to order the CM to immediately table the report in the Assembly.
