Speaking to reporters, PR Pandian, president of Coordination Committee of All Farmers Associations said, while four weeks are over against the deadline of six weeks on the formation of the CMB, the statement of UP Singh raised several eyebrows and increased the suspicion about the stand of the Union government.
“The statement undoubtedly conveys that the Centre is not interested in establishing the CMB,” he said.
Stating that the remarks of the Union Water Resources Secretary was a contempt of court, the farmers association leader said, the state should file a petition in the SC appealing for action against the officer. “If delayed in filing a petition, it would bring adverse results to Tamil Nadu,” Pandian added. At the same time, he said, if the state fails to do so, the farmers association would take the lead and approach the apex court and raise this issue.
“We will also expose Singh during our indefinite protest in Delhi scheduled from March 26,” Pandian noted.
