The farmers raised slogans against the Centre and urged the state government to address the welfare of Cauvery delta farmers or file a contempt case against the Centre in the CMB issue.

In Tiruchy, while Collector K Rajamani received a petition from the farmers who urged him to appeal to the Centre to set up the CMB, others with begging bowls staged a protest outside the office and boycotted the meeting.

MP Chinnadurai, who presided over the protest, said, “To pressure the central government, the state should hold a bandh.”

In Thanjavur, when N Sakthivel, District Revenue Officer, was chairing the meet, a group of farmers led by Kakkarai R Sukumaran, state vice-president of the Joint Movement of Farmers’ Association, lay down near the desk where the officers were sitting. They raised slogans demanding protection of Delta farmers.
