LG Kiran Bedi visits Manalippattu, to revitalise river

Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Saturday, as part of her 147th morning week end round, visited Manalippattu village where she planned to start the ‘Revitalizing Sankarabharani River’ work.

According to a Raj Nivas release, the Lt Governor was accompanied by environmental and river experts of Isha foundation and Art of living, to study Manalipet the first river bed village and catchment of Sankarabharani River which flows through nine major villages. 

The experts who defined their strategy to be adopted at micro and macro level in revitalising the river, emphasised the cooperation of the villagers to make Puducherry water rich and determined to execute the project in coordination with the line departments. 

Bedi announced a reward to the best village and local leadership who work towards this goal which would be given away at a function at Raj Nivas on October 2.
