The officials had a tough time when the filing of nominations for the first phase of cooperative election scheduled earlier on April 2 began. As most of the office-bearers in the Central districts are with Dhinakaran, a series of arguments erupted with the AIADMK members.

In Thendral Nagar society in Tiruchy, the police rescued the Returning Officer Keerthivasan as the ruling party members locked him up in the society after a tiff with AMMK members. Later, the Returning officer withheld the election.

Meanwhile, in societies at Pillayarkoilpatti and Karumpulipatti in Manapparai, Thiruparaithurai and Ponnagar Central Cooperative Societies, the officials were not present to receive the nominations and so the DMK and the AMMK members staged separate demonstrations against the ruling party. The situation was the same in Thanjavur, Patteswaram and Udayalaur.

However, Karur witnessed high drama. In the clash, a police vehicle was damaged and an AMMK functionary sustained injuries.
