April 3 fast an eyewash, says TNCC chief

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Su Thirunavukkarasar on Friday hit out at state government for not taking appropriate steps to constitute the Cauvery Management Board (CMB).

After meeting Governor Banwarilal Purohit, the TNCC president told reporters, “The ruling AIADMK legislators and ministers, who kept promising to form the CMB, neglected to do so. To escape from this issue, the members have announced a ‘hunger strike.’ 

He also warned of protests across the state. “The Congress cadre will stage protest soon in their respective district headquarters,” he noted. 

Meanwhile, AIADMK leaders continued to slam the Congress-led UPA government for delaying the Cauvery issue for the past several years and claimed that they were largely responsible for the plight of Tamil Nadu farmers.
