Tiruvannamalai temple to use rice grown through organic farming
In a novel venture the Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvannamalai has harvested 22 tonnes of high quality paddy raised through organic farming method.

Temple officials told DT Next that paddy was cultivated on 20 acres near a farm belonging to the temple in Kalasapakkam. According to officials, the temple owns over 40 acres at Dhankotpuram near Kalasapakkam, where organic farming was practised. Recently, 22 tonnes of high quality Ponni variety raised in 20 acres was harvested, officials said. The harvested paddy was packed in 440 sacks and was brought to the temple.
Officials said it would be used during various poojas in Arunachaleswarar temple and the shrines that come under it located in Adi Annamalai and Somasipadi. Also, 6, 750 kg of chaff, which was left over after converting the paddy to rice, would be used to feed the cows in Arunachaleswarar temple, officials added.
