Rs 69 lakh seized from special tahsildar’s office
Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) sleuths seized more than Rs 69 lakh from the office of the special tahsildar, Adi Dravida welfare, at Vandavasi in Tiruvannamalai district, late on Friday night.

The DVAC officials, who arrived at the special tahsildar’s office late on Friday evening, continued their operations until the early hours of Saturday, official sources said.
As the office functions from private premises on the Potti-Naidu Street, an adjacent building was also inspected by the officials. Investigations were still under way with special tahsildar Arputham and department staff. The DVAC operation follows a series of complaints regarding alleged irregularities in disbursing salaries to wardens of Adi Dravida welfare hostels in the area and in handing over Adi Dravida scholarship amount to students.
The special tahsildar controls 18 Adi Dravida welfare schools and a similar number of hostels.
