Siddhar seeks protection after death threat

The siddhar (saint) had recently posted a message on social media criticising the appointment of the Anna University Vice Chancellor (V-C) and Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar for his statement supporting the move by the Governor in appointing the V-C. His post was widely circulated on social media and following it, he apparently received a death threat on his cellphone. Subsequently, the siddhar had submitted a petition to Madurai SP N Manivannan, demanding action against the caller and protection for him.

In his petition, he had stated that when he was returning from Erode to Madurai by train on Monday, a person, had called him around 1.40 pm through a mobile phone and threatened to murder him for his social media post. 

When he asked the caller about his identity, he had said that he was a supporter of Jayakumar. The caller should be traced and action should be taken against him, the siddhar said and sought police protection.
