Notice issued to squatters of Panchami land
The district administration has been ordered to issue notices to 4,328 individuals who have encroached on 7,775 acres of Panchami land meant for the SC community, national SC commission vice chairman L Murugan announced on Thursday.

Murugan asserted that encroachers must give up their hold on the encroached plots within a fortnight. Stating that 3,654 SCs in the district were provided houses under the PM’s Awas Yojana, he said another 3,326 houses were provided for the ST community in the district.
He added that Rs 3,000 crore has been allocated in the state budget which will be utilized to raise the standard of 800 AD welfare schools in the state. Students were also being encouraged to undertake professional courses in such schools. Earlier Murugan reviewed various central and state government schemes for the SC/ST community at the Tiruvannamalai collector’s office in which top officials had participated.
