Speaking at a function, commercial taxes minister KC Veeramani said Satish’s exploits had resulted in Vellore now being put on the international map. His accomplishments will encourage more local students to take up sports, he added. District collector SA Raman presided the function, while district sports officer S Ramesh welcomed the gathering.

Labour minister Nilofer Khafeel and Vellore SP P Pagalavan were also present. Earlier, Satish was brought in a procession in an open jeep from the Gandhi statue in front of the Vellore fort to the function venue at Nethaji stadium.
