Speaking at a marriage function, Stalin said, “After the demise of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, this government is continuing only based on the number of legislators. So, chances remain high that the government can fall anytime.” He added that such government was also waiting for the court verdict to breakdown.
“However, the Centre have been saving this government, as it (AIADMK) became slaves of the BJP,” the DMK leader charged. He questioned, “If the DMK was in power, had we compromised state’s rights?” On Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Stalin said, “Today, the entire state hangs its head in shame and the AIADMK government is also dancing to the tune of the representative of BJP. We should sense the fact that the Governor is only ruling the state, but he has poor conduct.”
Even Chief Minister is floundering to get appointment to meet the PM. If the DMK was in power in this situation, we would have never been slave of the Centre, he noted. Even after the Supreme Court passed a ruling that the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) should be set up within six months, the LoP hit out at the Centre for failing to do so.
“Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Palaniswami intentionally did not form the CMB. After failing to form the CMB, the state government should have immediately gone for filing of a contempt petition,” he added.
The state government remained passive and mute spectator even after protests erupted in the state to condemn the Centre and the DMK is planning to hold agitations on April 23 in all the district headquarters, Stalin noted.
