Inspector of Police ‘detained’ in court for biased action

Justice GR Swaminathan, while hearing a petition regarding a fake land grab case from two persons, Senthil Kumar and Ponnusamy, from Thanthonimalai, in Karur district, came down heavily on the Kulithalai police station inspector Rajamohan and placed him under court custody. Later the judge also issued notice to the ADGP (Law and Order) recommending departmental action against the inspector and directed to file a report on the action taken against the officer.

According to the petitioners, a fake case was registered against them in which they were accused of grabbing 131 acres of land. When they applied for anticipatory bail they were illegally detained by Rajamohan. So, they moved court against the inspector.

Rajamohan had been ignoring the court summons for some time and on Monday, as he did not appear again, the court issued an arrest warrant against him. Following this, Rajamohan showed up on Tuesday. 

The petitioners complained that the inspector came to the court in the car provided by those who had complained against them in the fake land case and argued that this was a proof that the inspector was acting in favour of the complainants. When the judge inquired, Rajamohan admitted that he came in their car. Irked by this, the judge came down heavily on the inspector and ordered him to stay inside the court room till 5 pm on Tuesday.
