Tamil Virtual University to enhance e-learning

In a bid to enhance internet-based learning, the Tamil Nadu Virtual University (TVU) has proposed to hire IT experts, including resource persons and computer programmers to aid students.

The university has decided to further deliver customised programmes to meet cultural needs of the Tamil Communities around the world and help them retain their heritage. In addition, the university has also planned to further compile knowledge resources developed by Tamils living around the world band propagate it. With in-house requirement on the rise, the university decided to hire 50 people, including resource experts, computer programmers and data entry operators. 

TVA will conduct a competency test for selecting the suitable candidates, who will have to work at various offices in Tamil Nadu. At present, TVA has about 50 employees from resource persons to office assistants. “We have already approached man power agency for the recruitment. The deployment of additional staff will improve the university’s efficiency,” a senior official from TVA said. According to him, it will create more opportunities for the Tamil community to acquire knowledge and get certificate or diploma or degree through universities. 

He said the top resource person should have a doctoral degree in Linguistics with more than five years’ experience in research projects. He will also have to work in areas of traditional grammar, linguistic techniques and lexicographic knowledge.
