Lorry owners may go on strike in June
Condemning the increasing petrol and diesel prices and toll fee, lorry and container owners have planned to meet Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry officials soon. They also threatened that they may go on a strike in June if their demands are not met.

According to association members, they are facing severe loss due to the increase petrol and diesel prices. Further, they have long been demanding that prices of diesel and petrol should be brought under the ambit of Goods and Services tax (GST).
S Yuvaraj, president of Tamil Nadu Lorry Owners Federation, said that all the associations, including South Indian Motors Transporters Association, All India Motor Transport Congress and Owners of Container Lorry Federation have decided to hold a meeting soon to decide the next course of action. “If there is no action within the stipulated time, we will go on indefinite strike like last year,” he said.
