He said, “From issues like Cyclone Ockhi to NEET exams, whenever the people of Tamil Nadu have been in distress the Chief Minister of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan has lent a helping hand and I have conveyed thanks on behalf of the people to him.”

Kamal also extended support to the family of a NEET aspirant whose father accompanying him to Ernakulam for the exam died unexpectedly of heart attack. He said that he had spoken to the Kerala Chief Minister and the Inspector General of Cochin to ensure that the body is brought back to his home town at the earliest. He added that Makkal Needhi Maiam will provide any assistance necessary until the deceased reached Thiruthuraipoondi.

Since his foray into politics with the formation of the Makkal Needhi Maiam on February 24, Kamal has been vocal about various issues plaguing the people of the state and the nation. He has lent his support against the delay in formation of the Cauvery Management Board, the anti-Sterlite protests in Thoothukudi and taken the state government on over its inaction on various issues. With recent launch of his party’s Maiam Whistle App, hyper-local issues have also become the focus of the Makkal Needhi Maiam.
