Oovanam’ (Creepers), a Madurai-based organisation, that rescue snakes, received a call on Friday from Thirunagar. Vishwa, a member and also a resident of Thirunagar, reached the spot.
During his attempt to take the snake out of the bushes he noticed that the reptile was not in condition to move. He spotted a swelling on its back. Immediately, he took the snake to the veterinary centre in Tallakulam with the help of forest department officials. A scan revealed that it had suffered a fracture on its spine. The doctors recommended immediate treatment. Since, further treatment was not possible in Madurai, it was taken to a veterinary hospital in Sathyamangalam.
Speaking to DT Next, Vishwa said that snakes should be treated and that they are both useful and friendly creatures. He was confident about its recovery.
