Class 11 results: 91.3 per cent pass in TN

Girls outshone boys by securing 94.6%. According to the directorate, 2,054 private higher secondary schools in TN secured pass percentage of 100%. Similarly, 2,724 government higher secondary schools secured pass percentage of 100%.

A total of 2,450 differently abled students secured pass marks. In addition, 45 inmates, who took the exams at the prison exam centre, also secured pass marks. Erode district secured highest pass percentage of 97.3% followed by Tirupur district (96.2%).

Coimbatore stood third by securing overall pass percentage of 96.2%. Chennai scored 91.29%. Vellore district secured 84.95%.

A total of 36,380 students scored more than 500 marks. Similarly, a total of 44,817 students secured marks between 451 and 500. Of this, 21,859 are boys and 42,958 girls.

Likewise, 48,532 candidates secured marks between 426 and 450. About 16,000 students got 175 marks and less.

Subject-wise, pass percentage in Physics was 93%, Chemistry (92.7%,) Biology (96.9%), Mathematics (95.2%), Botany (89.3%), Zoology (91.8%) and Computer Science (95.3%).

The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations said a total of 8.63 lakh Class 11 students appeared for exams this year. Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan said that the government abolished ranking system since it was found to be affecting the students.
