Those replaced include South Zone IG (Madurai), Shailesh Kumar Yadav, who was moved to a less significant post by the order which came a little over two weeks after the violence during the anti-Sterlite protest in Thoothukudi. Shailesh Kumar Yadav was posted as the IG of Armed Police wing in Chennai, and would be replaced by senior officer TKP Shanmuga Rajeswaran, who is the IG in charge of Training at present.
Of the 11 officers, S Manoharan, who had been kept on compulsory wait, has now been promoted to IG rank and posted as Tirupur City Police Commissioner. Similarly, J Bhaskaran, Deputy Inspector General (Social Justice and Human Rights, Chennai), too, has been promoted as IG and posted in Operations wing in the existing vacancy.
Last year, at the peak of Panneerselvam’s revolt, Davidson was made the Inspector General in charge of the crucial Intelligence wing. But it lasted for less than 10 days, as his was among the first round of purge undertaken by the new Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami soon after he took charge. He was shunted back to the Welfare section from where he was brought in, a low profile post he occupied since then.
Davidson will replace the incumbent Commissioner of Madurai, Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, who has in turn been moved as the IG (Special Investigation Division, CB-CID, Chennai).
Among other officers who were transferred were S Manoharan, presently on compulsory wait, who was included in the panel of Inspector Generals in February. He was promoted as IG and posted as Commissioner of Tirupur City, replacing P Nagarajan. The latter has been transferred to Chennai and posted as IG (Training), replacing K P Shanmuga Rajeswaran, who in turn has been posted as the new IG for South Zone.
Another key transfer is that of S N Seshasai, now Additional Commissioner (Headquarters, Chennai), who has been posted as IG (Welfare, Chennai) in place of Davidson.
Mahendra Kumar Rathod (DIG, Technical Services) has been posted as Commissioner of Tirunelveli City, while N Z Asiammal (DIG, Training) will take over as DIG of Technical Services. N Bhaskaran, IG, (Crime, Chennai) will hereafter be IG in charge of Tamil Nadu Police Academy in the existing vacancy.
