Conservancy worker ends life in Madurai

The incident happened late in the night when the deceased Vairamani, after completing the day’s job, returned to his house.

As his wife, Parvathi, was feeding their children outside the house, he went into a room. Soon his wife heard him screaming and when she tried to enter the room, she found the door locked. When she looked through the window she saw Vairamani hanging from one of her sarees. She raised an alarm and her kin broke open the door and rescued him. Though Vairamani lost consciousness, he was taken to the GRH but he died on the way.

Following the suicide, workers attached to the private firm employed in the GRH staged a protest in front of the hospital alleging that the manager of the company, Harikrishnan, had abused Vairamani by using his caste name and demanded immediate action against him.
