All districts to get civil service coaching centres from July 15

In a bid to encourage the students, the state government-run all India civil service exam coaching centre will be setup, free of cost in all the 32 districts.

The proposed centre would offer coaching for the UPSC civil service preliminary and main exam and also train candidates for the interview. Earlier, the State government had established IAS coaching centres in the important cities. 

“The UPSC coaching centres, as per instructions of Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan, will be installed in all districts from July 15, this year”, a senior official from Education Department said on Monday. Each centre, managed by experts, will provide the aspirants, an all embracing knowledge to enable them enter into the Indian Administrative Service and related services. 

Training will be imparted to the candidates to hone them towards achieving their target by conducting different programmes like inspirational lectures, knowledge based class room teaching, testing sessions, issue - based discussions, and hands-on experience of personality test conducted by UPSC. 

Preliminary exams are conducted based on merit (through a competitive entrance examination conducted throughout Tamil Nadu) and community reservation system.  Aspirants are admitted in residential coaching (full-time) and candidates in non-residential (part-time) coaching.  

ICR applications are issued to the aspirants through the district Collectorate. The aspirants who have cleared the UPSC Preliminary examination are admitted for Main Examination Coaching (225 aspirants). 

Intensive coaching for nearly two to four months is given to the aspirants. A nominal monthly stipend given to each candidate admitted for main coaching, irrespective of the income ceilings to meet expenditure for accessing reading materials.
