A week after announcing that he would withdraw the case, Thangathamizhselvan said he would explain his decision to Sasikala and obtain her permission for his move. The disqualified legislator added that he had already received permission from the AMMK deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran.

Thangathamizhselvan is expected to get permission from prison authorities to meet the jailed leader in Bengaluru prison next week to clear the apprehensions on his move.

He would also discuss with Sasikala, the stand of the other disqualified legislators who would continue with the legal process.

The disqualified MLA also said he is still consulting legal experts on the procedure involved in the withdrawal of the case.

The withdrawal could be done before the third judge when she starts hearing the disqualification case. If the third judge wants the petitioner to go to the original Bench which had given a split order, he should wait for the same Division Bench to submit his plea, a functionary of AMMK said.

Thangathamizhselvan is also exploring the possibility of contesting the bypoll again since some of the legal experts he had consulted said he could not contest till the dissolution of this Assembly.

The disqualified MLA himself told the media that the opinion is divided on if he could contest in Andipatti again within this term.

A practising advocate AP Suryaprakasam has petitioned the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court Indira Banerjee to initiate contempt proceedings against disqualified AIADMK legislator Thangathamizhselvan for his ‘vicious and malicious’ attack on the judiciary.

His withdrawal plans has run into rough weather after the lawyer had filed a representation in the court alleging contempt and interference in the course of justice.

Justice Kirubakaran had assured to forward the representation to Chief Justice.
