Rs 1 crore fine collected for traffic rule violations
Vellore city traffic police collected Rs 1.05 crore as fine from offenders in the first five months of the current year.

Police department officials told DT Next that a total of 87, 943 cases were registered during the period.
Police forwarded more than 10,000 cases to the authorities concerned recommending the cancellation of licenses in this period.
Although no license cancellation has been approved, a cop said traffic-related offences can be brought down only when action is taken.
However, a total of 8,297 licenses were suspended.
Police booked 1,438 cases for drunken driving and 448 cases for over-speeding. Nearly 30,000 cases were registered against those riding two-wheelers without helmets.
