Why DMK gets worked up with Governor’s reviews, ask AIADMK, BJP

Tamil Official Language Minister K Pandiarajan on Sunday asserted that the ruling AIADMK does not have any problems in Governor reviewing the state government projects. He maintained that the DMK’s opposition to the Governor’s visits and reviews as illegal and immoral.

“The Governor has been reflecting on the people welfare services rendered by the AIADMK government.

He has not found any fault with the government in the reviews so far. We have no problems in his initiatives pertaining to ‘Clean India’ movement or taking stock of the implementation of the programme through the officials. And on conveying certain messages through such reviews to the public,” Pandiarajan said.

“The Governor is discharging his duties as enshrined in the Constitution. He has been popularising the state’s schemes and is encouraging the state machinery for better performance unlike (the then Governor) Channa Reddy,” Pandiarajan reasoned as to why late chief minister J Jayalalithaa opposed Channa Reddy. He added that there was nothing wrong in the reviews of Purohit.

Expressing similar views, BJP senior leader La Ganesan sought to know the reason behind the DMK’s opposition against the Governor’s reviews when the ruling AIADMK has not objected to it and has taken it in the right spirit. He also noted that there was no rhyme or reason for the DMK’s protests on Governor’s visits.

“The ruling party is the one which should be worried of the reviews as the Governor may find fault with the governance. It should have sparked the anger in the leaders of the AIADMK and it is unclear as to why the DMK is getting angry and tensed,” he asked.

The BJP leader also gave lessons for the DMK working president MK Stalin that the Opposition would lose its little currency it enjoys from the people of Tamil Nadu if the DMK continued with its approach of protests for everything and everything under the sun.
