Stating that such centres need to be made available by more hospitals in districts, mainly to check the increase in the number of quacks, Dr Shiny A, a general physician from Chennai, said, “Such centres will help a number of persons to get adequate and reliable information regarding hospitals in Chennai and the treatment and facilities.
Reaching out to the people in these districts is a need of the hour as they may not be able to approach the right hospitals due to the lack of awareness – a factor quacks tend to take advantage of.”
Stating that the state-of-the art centre will function as a nodal point for patients in and around Vellore in terms of the dissemination of information and patient care management, Dr Raju Sivasamy, vice president, SIMS Hospital (which has started the centre), said, “The information centre will provide a variety of services.
From regular visits by super speciality doctors to providing information about insurance and cashless treatment available in Chennai, the centre will provide all information relevant and beneficial to the public.”
The new information Centre at Vellore will help to build a trust with the neighbourhood communities and bring them closer to the specialized medical services offered, he said, adding, “The people of Vellore will benefit by having easier access to information and receiving the necessary advice on the way forward for treatments and information on unique life-saving and enhancing services.”
