The woman professor is under detention on a charge of luring students with wrongful intent after suspension from the college. CB-CID inquiry was ordered by the state government.
Murugan, professor of Madurai Kamaraj University and Karuppasamy, a research student, the third accused in the case, were already arrested in connection with the incident.
Karuppasamy moved the court seeking bail for the second time, but his bail plea was dismissed.
When the petition was heard by Justice GR Swaminathan, the court said teachers and parents were in equitable respect in the society and beyond divine. But, such activity of the woman teacher, who lured students to extend sexual favour to some varsity officials for marks, came as a rude shock. It was a rare case in the court of law. Hence, the petitioner was instructed to remain in prison and face the investigation until completion.
Further, the Forensic Lab, Chennai, where the CB-CID submitted the audio tape of the prime accused, Nirmala Devi, should produce its report within 30 days.
The court also directed the police to file its first charge sheet in the court concerned on July 16, supplementary charge sheet on September 10. The CBCID should submit all the evidences pertaining to the case before September 24.
From there on the lower court should proceed the case and complete the trial within six months.
