Multiple collision in Tirupur, 12 hurt
As many as 12 persons suffered injuries in multiple collisions involving a mini-truck, four cars and a private bus on the Salem-Cochin National Highway in Tirupur district on Monday.

According to police, a mini-truck laden carrying construction materials overturned due to overweight near Thekkalur on Monday morning. The vehicles behind the mini-truck collided with each other.
The injured persons were rushed to hospitals in Tirupur, Coimbatore and Avinashi. The condition of one person is said to be serious.
In another accident, M Sanjeevinathan (28), working as a service engineer at Vinoba Nagar near Koduvai, died after a private bus knocked him down from his two-wheeler at a railway over bridge in Thimmanaickenpalayam. Sanjeevinathan was thrown off from the bridge from a height of 25 feet. He landed on an electric line and succumbed to injuries on the spot. The bus crashed into the parapet of the bridge but did not topple over. However, two passengers on the bus suffered injuries.
The Uthukuli police retrieved the body of Sanjeevinathan and sent it for post-mortem examination at Tirupur GH.
