Thambidurai also ridiculed the claims of Amit Shah that BJP would win in Tamil Nadu and said, “It is just a wish by the party. The BJP is expressing its wish, but the people will not vote for it. Only the Dravidian movement founded by EVR Periyar and CN Annadurai can win in Tamil Nadu.”

Parties like the BJP would come out with corruption charges for coming to power.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi is raising corruption charges against the BJP, while Leader of Opposition MK Stalin is bringing up similar charges against the AIADMK government. The opposition makes such charges for coming to power, he told the media at airport here. Each party can say something, but they should come with specific

instances backed with evidences. Otherwise, there is no need to worry about it.

The Dravidian movement was founded by Periyar and Anna for the progress of Tamil society, culture and arts and there is no place for national parties here, Thambidurai said.

After losing power to the Dravidian parties, the Congress, which is a national party, has been saying for the last fifty years that it would form ‘Kamaraj rule’in Tamil Nadu. The Congress is unable to form government in the state and will not capture power in future also, he asserted. During the budget session of Parliament, the AIADMK MPs stalled Parliament proceedings for Cauvery, the lifeline of Tamil Nadu.

“We fought in Parliament for 23 days and won on the issue. Now, Cauvery water is flowing into Tamil Nadu. This is a historic achievement and we have  fulfilled the ideals of Amma (Jayalalithaa),” he said.

Answering a query on the AIADMK’s alliance plans, Thambidurai said the party headquarters would decide on alliance.

“As the Chief Minister has said (in Madurai) the party has commenced the election campaign. I have begun my poll campaign in the villages of my constituency (Karur). We are approaching the people asking them to give a mandate to form ‘Amma rule’ again,” he added.
