Speaking to reporters at the airport here, Dhinakaran said a police enquiry into the allegations against Panneerselvam would not bring out the truth. He said only a CBI probe would bring out the facts and said the bad deeds he had done had started chasing him in the form of egg scam now. Making the same demand, Ramadoss said the Madras High Court itself had asked why CBI enquiry could not be ordered to investigate the complaints against Panneerselvam.
After the court raised such questions, the state government had filed cases against the Deputy Chief Minister. The PMK leader charged that the assets of Panneerselvam, who was running a dairy and tea shop is said to be several crores now.
The DVAC probe would not identify the Deputy Chief Minister’s assets since he enjoyed political power, Ramadoss said. He recalled that Panneerselvam had bent the law and escaped from similar assets cases filed by the DMK government and no one should expect that the DVAC which is under him would punish him. Only a CBI investigation would bring out the truth, he added.
