Thereafter, friends and relatives of Jennifer, the deceased nurse, staged a road block in the evening, alleging that she took the extreme step because of work-related stress. As a result, traffic came to a complete stop at the Palace café junction near the CMC hospital.

Relatives accompanied by her mother Jayanthi had rushed Jennifer to the CMC hospital where she was declared brought dead on Friday. The anguished family members immediately resorted to a road roko blocking the traffic.

Vellore north police rushed to the spot and tried to pacify them, following which, the family entered the CMC hospital premises. Jennifer’s mother said that her daughter killed herself due to work-related stress as she had been put on night duty for a month. This is the second incident in the last one month when relatives, who lost their loved ones after admitting them to the CMC hospital, had resorted to a road roko.

Earlier, one Matthew had blocked the road with his relatives when he lost his baby daughter after she was admitted to the same hospital. In both the cases, police pacified the agitators and sent them away without booking them for blocking traffic.
