J Gopi, whose shop is located on Palamer road junction in Gudiyattam, gives customers chicken wrapped in banana leaves.

After information about Gopi’s initiative of using banana leaves reached the district administration a few days ago, Collector SA Raman and Regional Director of Municipal Administration C Vijayakumar directed Gudiyattam officials to felicitate Gopi.

Subsequently, Gudiyattam municipal commissioner S Selvabalaji and other officials, including health officer M Tamilselvan and manager GR Suryaprakash, congratulated Gopi and honoured him with a memento on Tuesday. More significantly, Gopi’s efforts have led him to being named as the brand ambassador for the local body’s plastic eradication drive.
