20,000 seats allotted after TNEA’s 2nd round of online counselling
With two rounds of online counselling for students seeking admission in engineering courses in Tamil Nadu being over, tentative allotment of seats were made to about 20,200 candidates so far.

At the first round of counselling, for students who secured up to 190 marks, as many as 7,136 candidates had received tentative allotment.
During the second round, for those who secured upto 175 marks, as many as 18,513 students were found eligible, of which 13,288 candidates have entered courses and colleges of their choice, said Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) 2018 Secretary V Rhymend Uthariaraj.
The allotment was made to 13,148 candidates, who preferred either computer science or electronic and communication courses.
The third round of counselling will be held on Saturday for students who have claimed up to 150 marks. The fourth batch of students, who have secured 125 cut-off marks, will have to pay from August 4 till August 8. They will be given three days after that for adding and locking their choice.
Their tentative allotment date will be between August 12 and 13. The final allotment will be published on August 14 and students will have to report for admission on August 20.
All the remaining eligible candidates will have the option to pay from August 13 to 14. They too will get three days for adding and locking their choice.

Anna University sources said that the new sessions in engineering colleges are expected to commence from September 1.
The candidates who had failed to pay the initial deposit within the stipulated time will not be eligible for adding their choice online, sources added.
