It may be noted that a few days ago, a Dalit woman was denied entry into the temple following which Ambedkar anti-untouchability and rights restoration movement and Dalit organisations announced that they will forcefully enter the temple.
Accordingly, they gathered near the temple on Friday. On information, the villagers too gathered at the spot and tried to prevent the former from entering the temple premises triggering tension. Thereafter, police intervened and tried to restore order. At one point, the police even used mild force to bring the crowd under control.
Senior Superintendent of Police Apoorva Gupta and District Collector Chowdry Abhijit Vijay held talks with both the groups separately.
The villagers demanded action against those who had staged the agitation. Further, they informed that they do not have any objection if the Dalits of the village visit and worship in the temple. However, the villagers maintained that they will not allow organisations from outside to enter the temple.
Finally, the issue was settled when both the groups were allowed to worship in the temple.
