Despite petitioning various local officials, there was reportedly no action was taken in this regard. Thereafter, a section of the townspersons visited the Vellore Collectorate on Monday and handed over a petition to Collector SA Raman demanding the service road from the bypass road leading to the town be widened. They also demanded that the government buses must enter the town bus stand. The buses bound for both the directions halted at a nearby bridge to offload the passengers bound for Natrampalli, thereby avoiding entering the town’s bus stand.

On the order from the Collector, the Vellore Transport officials on Friday arrived in Natrampalli to survey the region. Thereafter, the locals besieged them and demanded that the buses must be made to enter the bus stand as it was difficult for the elderly and the infirm to climb the bridge where they were alighted.

The locals also detained a Vellore-bound TNSTC bus and refused to let it go until the officials promised action to ensure that buses halt at the bus stand. Following talks, the bus was let off and the agitators dispersed.
