A total of 16 buses had their windshields broken by DMK cadre, following which Polur DSP Chinnaraj, Inspector Suresh Babu and head constable Parthasarathy were shifted out to the Armed Reserve.

There were complaints that even a day after the burial the DSP ordered tea shops to remain closed and ensured that buses stayed off the roads, affecting the public in this area. The SP, who investigated into the issue, ordered that miscreants who damaged buses and public property be arrested. A total of 20 DMK men, including 10 in the Polur area, were arrested.
