Probe on into death of Australian woman

A 50-year-old Australian, who was brought to the Arcot government hospital in a serious condition on Monday, was declared ‘dead on arrival’.

Police said that Jane Trevalayan (50), wife of Milchael Main, was a cancer survivor. She had developed an acquaintance with Sujib (50), a goldsmith in Vellore, through Facebook. Impressed by the customs of Indian, she came here. Meanwhile, the woman’s condition suddenly worsened and she was rushed the Arcot GH, where doctors declared her ‘dead on arrival.’ On information from the GH, Arcot town police have registered a case and are investigating. 

In another incident a BSNL employee died while at work in Panapakkam near Arakkonam on Monday afternoon.Police said that Vadivelu (55) a resident of Kancheepuram, was working at the Panapakkam BSNL office. While attending to a fault on a phone line on the terrace of a house, he suddenly swooned and died. Nemili police are investigating if Vadivelu died of electrocution, as power lines passed close to the spot where he was working. His body was sent to the Arakkonam government hospital for post mortem.
