The incident occurred last night when the fishermen from Jegadapattinam in Pudukottai district strayed into the Sri Lankan waters due to a strong wind and rough sea conditions, Assistant Director of Fisheries Kumaresan said.
The Naval personnel allegedly rammed their vessel against the fishing boat, he added.
However, the fishermen, who were struggling for life, were rescued and taken to the Kangesanthurai port in the island nation, Kumaresan said.
They would be produced before the Mallagam court there, he added.
On August 10, a total of 27 fishermen from Tamil Nadu were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy on charges of fishing in the island nation's waters.
