AMMK battle over flag pole continues
The cadre of the AMMK protested the attempts by officials to remove their party flag, second such incident in the last two days, at Tirupattur town in Vellore district on Friday.

TTV Dhinakaran was slated to inaugurate the party office in Tiruppatur on Friday. Flex boards were erected by cadre to welcome their leader with official permission in the town. However, officials asked cops to remove the banners and boards.
Objecting to this, AMMK men rushed to the municipal office. However, the municipal commissioner was not present there. Later they besieged the Tirupatthur town police station and picked up an argument with the police. The cadre reiterated that they erected banners and boards only after obtaining permission and said all of them would be removed on Saturday. The partymen dispersed after police accepted their version.
Earlier on Thursday, before he arrived at Gudiyattam to hoist his party flag a large number of AIADMK cadre blocked road near Kamaraj bridge at Agaramcheri. Besides this, officials demolished a five-foot tall pedestal and removed the AMMK flag pole erected on top of it. Around 9 pm, when Dhinakaran arrived, an altercation broke out with the policemen, AIADMK, on one side, and AMMK cadre on the other.
As part of a settlement reached later, a temporary flag pole was installed at the spot.
Following this, Dhinakaran hoisted the party flag and left. The flag pole was later removed by officials.
