CM should be awarded doctorate for comparing Mukkombu dam's damage with human medical ailment: Anbumani Ramadoss

After reports emerged on Wednesday about the dam's shutters falling into the water one by one, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami inspected the dam and stated that the dam's shutters were damaged just like human beings face medical ailments.

While meeting reporters in Vellore, PMK youth wing president Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday stated that the Chief Minister has be awarded with doctorate for comparing Mukkombu dam's damage with human medical ailment. He also blamed sand mafia for the collapse of shutters the dam.

After reports emerged on Wednesday about the dam's shutters falling into the water one by one, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami inspected the dam and stated that the dam's shutters were damaged just like human beings face medical ailments.

Meanwhile, Principal Secretary (PWD), SK Prabakar, who inspected the collapsed Kollidam dam in Mukkombu (Upper Anaicut) on Thursday, said that temporary arrangements would be initiated to prevent further damage and assured that the water distribution for irrigation would not be affected due to the collapse.

The dam, with a total of 45 shutters and 6.3-metre width, was used for irrigation purpose and also linked the Vathalai areas. 

As many as 14 shutters out of 45 of the Upper Anicut (Mukkombu) dam, where Kollidam branches from the Cauvery, were washed away by the heavy flow of water, while the entire amount of water stored in the dam is feared to flood the river and drain into the sea.
